Post from Amy A.

The first 9 days in San Pancho have already far exceeded my expectations of this field school opportunity. I have learned so much about myself already and have already noticed an improvement in my clinical skills. We don’t have much to work with here, so you have to make do with what you have. Being a very organized, linear person, it has been a challenge to drop the idea that everything will happen the way it’s supposed to. Although it’s taken a few days, I think I’m getting used to the idea of just going with the flow and accepting that whatever happens, happens.

Providing dental hygiene treatment to the residents of San Pancho and surrounding towns has been so rewarding. The clients are so grateful and appreciative. For many of them,  it is their first time receiving treatment.  They are so patient with us (especially my lack of Spanish speaking skills) and are really eager to learn more about their oral health. I can’t wait to go back to the hospital this weekend and continue treatment!
