Notes from Heather and Siarra...

Spending time in the schools and with all the kids has reminded me how lucky I am to be able to have access to dental care and the resources to get the care if and when I need it. The kids were undeniably adorable, but the number of visible decay were hard to believe, when we are coming from an area so focused on prevention. I was so glad to be able to provide education and preventive service. It feels good knowing that we have made some difference in the short time that we are here.......................................Heather

The school trips have been a great precursor to gaining comfort and confidence in working with children and youth clients next year. The children seem to remember why it is important to care for their teeth and what to eat and not to eat for proper nutrition and decay prevention.  I found that like most children,  they often need a refresher-demo on how to brush and floss and how often/how long to do so. I also found that the children were far more engaged with pictures or active demonstration-especially at eye level- compared to verbal communication alone.  And that they are absolutely adorable!...........................................................................................Siarra
