We are here! It was a shock to the system transitioning from
exams to San Pancho life. For the first time in months my blood pressure is
within the normal range. Perhaps I should stay here for my health!
In all seriousness, I feel that we have been welcomed here
with open arms. I am so grateful for those before us who have left such a legacy
in this town.
Adjusting to the accommodations and food has been easy. Both
are amazing and have exceeded my expectations. Adjusting to Mexico time has
probably been my biggest challenge so far. Back in Canada we are focused on
having class and clinic start right on time and I found myself pushing for that
here. After having a quick chat with Ada I learned that it is important to
adjust to the San Pancho way of doing things. Mexico time it is!
Our first week in the hospital was eye opening. Most of the
people have dental coverage but the dentist has such limited supplies she
mainly does extractions. Many of the clients we have seen have never had dental
hygiene treatment. I have found everyone so trusting and appreciative. One of
my favorite moments so far was when I handed my client the mirror after
finishing debridement for the day. His smile said it all.
Hope all is well back home!
I would be ok if you brought some of the yummy food home for me:)

Tijuana Dentista are much more commercial, but still I found Smile Tijuana as a blessing in my life. It removes my cavities from some tooth and now I am very happy and confident about me. Before that, I was very much shy because of this problem.
